Feijoa Kakapo 3.3L 50cm-70cm Grade

A smallish evergreen tree from Brazil with stacks of aromatic green fruits like no other! Startling red flowers similar to Pohutukawa in early summer are followed by pendulous egg-shaped fruit in autumn which drop conveniently when ripe. Fruit flavour can vary so you can enjoy hints of pineapple strawberry and guava. An easy-going attractive tree for screens hedges and topiary. Best planted in full sun with others to cross pollinate (Blackbirds and Thrushes love to help with this) although some varieties are self-fertile. Plant early and late varieties together and enjoy a extra long fruiting season. Thrives in our cool temperate climate but protect from frosts when young and plant againat a warm wall or fence if you experience sever frosts. 2-3m x 2m.
